From a 4.5 star James Halliday rated winery 2011, and as James Halliday noted "The wine portfolio impressively over delivers on value, an excellent winery able to produce wines of high to very high quality." The steeple Jack 2010 Shiraz is a Blue Gold medal winner, Sydney International Wine competition 2012. Deep dark red in colour with plum, cherries and blackberry on the nose, offering very generous ripe berry flavours on the palate, that follows on to a very smooth silky finish, complimented by a touch spice - delightful with food.

| The Story: The Shaw family of Ballast Stone have been vintners for over 35 years, and commenced planting their grapes in the McLaren Vale in the earl 70s. Ballast Stone has extensive vineyards both in McLaren Vale and Currency Creek, being a sub region of McLaren Vale. All wine is made at their very modern winery in Currency Creek by winemaker John Loxton and the wine portfolio under him impressively over-delivers on value as noted by James Halliday. |
