J and J 2009 McLaren Vale Shiraz is a classic McLaren Vale Shiraz. Deep velvet purple, with aromas of blackberries and hints of spice and liquorice. The palate is full, yet restrained, with superb balance between oak, red currents, wild berries, liquorice and spice. Long and intense on the finish with fine fruit tannins that linger. A wine for lovers of big stylish reds, as it will age gracefully and peak on 10 years. The proof is in the tasting! |

| The Story: As explained by winemaker Scott Rawlinson, this single vineyard wine is sourced from the Estate vineyard on the edge of the McLaren Vale township. The rich fertile soil over limestone provides excellent conditions for this variety to produce great wines. Small open fermentation and a mixture of French and American oak is used to craft this wine, with the result being a rich, ripe and robust Shiraz style. With careful cellaring, it will age gracefully and peak on 10 years. |
